The Sultanate of Oman is forging confidently ahead towards comprehensive and sustainable development achieving remarkable growth in all areas of its economy in recent years. Oman has been encouraging market-oriented policies and private sector development as the mechanism for prosperity and growth.

Economic Development

The system of five-year plans which the Sultanate has adopted since 1976 has enabled it to develop the country on a sound basis which guarantees that its oil revenues are distrubuted fairly throughout its far-flung regions. 

In 2016, the Sultanate will embark on its 9th Five-Year Plan, which will continue until 2020. Its main focus will be on an economic diversifaction strategy which will increase the GDP contributions of sectors. 

Oman has been able to attract domestic and foreign investments thanks to a variety of positive factors including security, political stability, and a free economy. 

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry introduced its E-Commercial Registration facility in June 2015 as part of its project to upgrade its one-stop ''Invest Easy'' services. 

Oman's economic policies have won it plaudits from around the world and it receives high rankings in international economic report.

After the oil sector, industry is one of the Sultanate's main engines of economic and social development. It is one of the most effective ways of achieving economic diversification.

The new 2015-2040 tourims strategy aims to make tourism a prime source of emplouyment and national income.

Oman furthermore encourages foreign capital that enhances the development of the country. There are an ever growing number of reasons and incentives to do business in Oman as such it is no wonder that it is fast becoming a most promising and attractive business market.
